Heeb Consulting is a Swiss boutique advisory based in Baselland — specialised in company formation, strategic advisory and fiduciary partner referrals.

We work in small, personally led mandates. No corporate apparatus, no interchangeable junior consultants, no off-the-shelf decks. Instead: direct access to leadership, clear recommendations and traceable work.

Heeb Consulting provides exclusively operational and strategic business advisory. We are not a financial service provider within the meaning of FINIG/FIDLEG and offer neither investment nor wealth advisory. For questions regarding investments, retirement planning or insurance, we refer to appropriately qualified and regulated specialists.

Swiss advisory fees are rarely standardised. We make clear how we calculate — before you sign. The initial consultation is always free.

Flat Mandate
Fixed Fee

For clearly defined mandates (company formation, relocation, fiduciary referral). Written offer with fixed amount, no surprises, no hourly billing.

Hourly Rate
Time-based

For open or iterative mandates (strategy sparring, ad-hoc advisory). Hourly rate CHF 280–450, monthly billing with detailed activity log.

Success-based
Hybrid Model

For mandates with defined milestones (succession, funding round, acquisition). Reduced base fee plus success component — fair for both sides.

Our Principles

  • Initial consultation free 30 minutes in person or by video. We check whether a mandate makes sense between us — and say honestly when it doesn't.
  • Written offer Before every mandate: scope, timeline, fee model and ancillary costs documented. No hidden surcharges.
  • No commissions When we refer fiduciaries, banks or insurers, we accept no commissions from these partners. You pay us, no one else.
  • Mandate size We work from CHF 1,500 flat (small referral) to CHF 80,000+ (complex strategy or succession mandates). Over half falls between CHF 4,000 and CHF 15,000.
  • Payment terms 30 days net. For flat-fee mandates: 50% at mandate start, 50% at handover.

Heeb Consulting works for clients from German-speaking regions, the UK, France and selected other markets. Language and time zone are not obstacles.

Around half of our mandates have an international dimension — from GmbH formations for German founders to UK entrepreneur relocations to operational location mandates for French clients.

We work via video, phone and in person — in Baselland, Zurich, Zug or at your location. Time zone differences are clarified at mandate start, fixed weekly slots ensure reliable availability.

For foreign entrepreneurs and private individuals relocating their residence or business to Switzerland — we coordinate the entire process from permit to integration.

Which permit you need depends on nationality, purpose of stay and employment situation. An initial overview:

Tax rates are indicative for high incomes and vary by municipality, denomination and family status. We prepare an individual location analysis for your situation in the initial consultation.

Common Pitfalls.

The most common problems arise from underestimating Swiss specifics. A short list of what we see repeatedly:

  • · Withholding tax optimisation missed With a B permit, withholding tax is deducted from salary. A tariff correction can bring several thousand CHF refund — if applied for in time.
  • · Health insurance deadline missed Health insurance must be in place within 3 months of registration. Those who miss the deadline are automatically assigned — usually not to the cheapest insurer.
  • · Registration at the wrong location Registration must occur at the actual place of residence, not at work or business location. Incorrect registration can lead to tax and administrative problems.
  • · School place shortage International schools in Basel, Zurich and Zug are highly sought after. Registration 6–12 months before school start recommended.
  • · Third countries underestimated For non-EU/EFTA citizens, permits are quota-based and tied to economic prerequisites. Preparation should begin 6–12 months before the planned move.

About our Advisory

What does the initial consultation cost? +

The initial consultation is free and non-binding — 30 minutes, in person or by video. We check whether a mandate makes sense between us and tell you honestly if someone else fits better.

Are you a law firm or fiduciary? +

Neither. Heeb Consulting is an advisory boutique. We refer to lawyers, notaries and fiduciaries when their specialisation is needed. Our strength lies in structuring, strategy and coordination — and in bringing the right specialists together.

Do you also work for private individuals, not just entrepreneurs? +

Yes, a significant part of our mandates are private individuals — typically in the context of relocation to Switzerland or referral to suitable fiduciary partners. However, we offer no investment or wealth advisory. For such topics, we refer to appropriately qualified specialists.

How quickly can you start a mandate? +

For urgent matters typically within a week. We deliberately take on only a limited number of mandates in parallel to maintain quality — so brief waiting times can occur for complex mandates.

About Company Formation

Do I need Swiss residency to form a company? +

Not strictly for formation itself. But: at least one authorised representative with Swiss residence is required under OR Art. 718. That can be a fiduciary, managing director or board member. We help find the right setup.

GmbH or AG — which fits me? +

Rule of thumb: GmbH (minimum capital CHF 20,000) for small to medium ventures, AG (minimum capital CHF 100,000) when shares are traded, investors involved or international setup desired.

But: the choice depends strongly on tax location, shareholder structure and growth plans. We analyse this individually rather than working with blanket recommendations.

How long does a formation really take? +

Pure GmbH formation: 2–4 weeks from notary engagement. With banking onboarding and CR entry, more like 4–6 weeks. When permits are required (financial services, regulated industries), significantly longer — up to 6 months.

About Relocation

Which permit do I need as an EU citizen? +

As an EU/EFTA citizen, under the Free Movement Agreement you can obtain a B permit relatively easily, provided you have an employment contract or proof of self-employment. For non-employment residency, sufficient financial means and health insurance must be demonstrated.

What changes tax-wise when relocating? +

With Swiss residency, your worldwide income and wealth become taxable in Switzerland (with exceptions for foreign real estate). Double taxation agreements prevent double taxation — but the right approach must be planned, especially in the transition year.

For high incomes, lump-sum taxation under cantonal rules may also be an option (provided no employment is exercised in Switzerland).

Can you also help with house hunting? +

Not directly — but we refer to specialised relocation agencies we work well with. As needed, we coordinate the interface between authorities, agency and you.

About Fees & Contracts

Do I get a binding offer before the mandate? +

Yes — before every mandate you receive a written offer with scope, timeline, fee model and ancillary costs. We don't start without your signature. You know exactly what to expect.

Are hourly rates negotiable? +

Hourly rates are not — they are calculated and transparent. The model can be negotiated: if a flat-fee mandate is possible, it's usually cheaper than hourly billing. For long-term sparring mandates, retainer models with reduced hourly rates are available.

What if I'm unsatisfied with the result? +

We speak openly about problems. At every phase of the mandate there is opportunity to re-evaluate — and if necessary, terminate the mandate. For flat-fee mandates we proportionally refund undelivered services. But: in 95% of cases we find the right path together.
